I've spent the last two weeks getting my computer back to normal after the hard drive crash. In the process, I have decided to dump Ximian Gnome; it's been too big of a hassle keeping my system completely updated using a combination of Ximian Red Carpet, RedHat up2date, and synaptic. RedHat 8.0 is out tomorrow; I am ready for it and looking forward to it. This go round I am sticking with a stock redhat install (i.e. no Ximian).
I have been playing the Unreal Tournament 2003 demo alot. It's great. The game should be ready for purchase real soon. I am also looking forward to the Linux Neverwinter Nights client.
Check out my new screenshot.

I failed at cloaning my hard drive. I forgot to create an empty /proc directory on the new drive after copying the old drive over.
Good practice though. I had everything backed up to CD. Got it all reinstalled with a clean redhat 7.3. Only about one month before the new RedHat version is out though; good practice.

This will be the last post till next week. I bet I have to replace the hard drive by then as well. It's not going to be fun. I am going to probably fail in trying to avoid a complete reinstall. If it would be ideal if the drive lasted till October, when the new RedHat distro should be released.

Hard drive failure status: worse possible situation.
My main hard drive is dying; it's just a matter of time.
It will have to be replaced soon.

Let me be the first to say: "Happy Birthday to me"

One of my hard drives has developed the chatter of slow death. Don't know which one yet for sure, but I have an idea; if I am right, then things could be worse.
Bought a cheap APEX DVD player for my TV. In addition to DVD, CD's, CDR's, and CDRW's it recognizes jpgs, and Kodak photo CDs.
So far I am happy with it.

I was a pall bearer in a funeral yesterday. It was sad.
