Tomorrow is my last day of vacation. It's not a vacation for me unless I make a trip to the hospital, emergency room, urgent care, or the doctor's office. My last three vacations have included a broken foot, a nail in my foot, the worst case of Strep throat I have ever had, and a 6 day hospital stay over Christmas with my then 9 monthold daughter. This vacation, I got an ear infection; a nice one too. I have been on Darvaset(sp) and penicillun since last Wednesday. I am going to the docotr tomorrow. The pain medicine last about 4 hours. It's been fun.

I now have my Power Mac G4 officially adopted into my linux computer family.
I installed Yellow Dog Linux ver 3.0 ( based on RedHat 9) on it this evening.
It is very cool! I also put Jaguar on it. It now can boot into OS9, OSX, or to the default set by me, Yellow Dog Linux.
Life is good.

I now have 1 desktop PC running RedHat 9,
1 laptop PC running RedHat 9,
1 Power Mac G4 running Yellow Dog Linux 3.0, OS9, and OSX,
and a 6 year old daughter running Micro$oft windows 98SE (for her games).

She uses the mac to watch DVD's.
As soon as I get back from vacation she will be watching her DVD's on the mac under linux.

Saturday moning I am leaving for a much deserved vacation to Florida!
I will be taking my laptop and updating the pages from there. Mainly blog and pics of the 36 oz steak I am gonna eat:-)
A relative will be staying at my house to make sure my computers don't catch on fire. This will be my first vacation with a laptop; maybe I will not miss my babies (other computers) so much this year.

Went ahead an ordered Yellow Dog Linux for my Power Mac G4. Should be here Wednesday. Ordered it from linuxcentral.com. This will be my third current linux box. I will probably keep OS9 on it for a while too though. I may go ahaead and purchase OSX as well. I wonder why I need another linux box? I can't really think of a reason why I shouldn't have a desktop PC, a laptop PC , and a Mac PPC all running linux. i would rather run Suse on the mac thn yellow dog. I had a Suse box once and liked it, I don't know if Suse makes a PPC version though.

Been debating whether or not to put Yellow Dog Linux on my new, used Power Mac G4. I just don't know if OS X is worth the money based on what I have heard about it. I like OS 9.2.2 alright, just not much to do with it. If there are any PPC linux/OSX/OS9 users out there with advise, I will gladly listen. email me.

Finally got to watch The Animatrix Wonderful DVD!

Went to bed last night early, sick. Left work early, sick.
Slept 4 hours on the couch this afternoon, still sick.

SCO makes me sick. Not the kind of sick to make me miss work, or have to take naps. But the kind of sick that makes me mad. I don't know what will happen to linux becuase of the SCO suit. But it makes no sense to me that a company that distributed their own version of linux, can turn around and say that linux is infringing on it's intelectual property rights. By distributing their own version of linux, they made public via the GPL, any and all code included in the version of linux (including the alleged "stolen" code, which once public cannot be stolen). I don't think their claims will hold up in court. I don't think their claims are valid. But, what do i know? I am not a lawyer.Weirder things have happened in court before. I just don't want to lose linux. Maybe I am overreacting. I have gotten used to the choice that is linux, and now I am unwilling to lose it.

Mac G4 update: I got OS 9.2.2 backup and running. OSX is still toast.
I want to get OSX backup cause it's unix based, and will run some opensource/GPL stuff. No system CDs though. Wait and save.

Think the SCO-linux mess is confusing? Check this out.
This may answer a few questions.

Cool beans! Check this out:
"The Cog".
It's the Honda commercial you may have heard about.
