Sun Ultra 2

I recently was given a Sun Ultra @ workstation pre-loaded with Solaris 9. I tried that out for a 1/2 day, the installed Debian for sparc on it. It's now running Debian sid and is a much happier Sun Box now.

Switching
I made the swithch from Mozilla 1.6 to Mozilla Firebird 0.7 and from Evolution 1.4.2 to Mozilla Thunderbird 0.4. Firebird is a stand alone web browswer and Thunderbird is a stand alone email client. Both are light weight, and have plentry of useful options. Switching to Firebird was a no braine (i.e. stand alone browser beats broswer email, news, chat client hands down); switching to Thunderbird was done because of the built in spam filtering. Being lazy (i.e. not wanting to compile the newest evolution) and not wanting to wait around for precompiled fedora core 1 binaries, I just decided to give Thunderbird a try. Neither of these programs are "finished" yet, but they are both "complete" and plenty usable. So far I am very happy with the switch. Very happy.
